I've been in Utah for about 2 weeks. I've been staying away from the crowded touristy destinations. I've posted on the FB page the rides i have taken so far. Most all roads, some 4wd roads that are rocky as hell. I've been staying away from the Single track and MC/Quad only trails until today. Looking on my map i could see a trail for 50" and less vehicles that climbed up the mountain from the highway and met with a supposed forest service road at the top. I don't mind if i am going to do one I'd prefer starting out going up, because if i can go up i can always go back down. Started out at about 8000' and went up to 10700' I spent a little over the next two hours going 2 miles up and two miles back. Some rocky climbs when you get started you can't stop and this was one of them. I did find a couple areas i could stop and rest, drink some water and get started again. The last rest stop was about 1/4 mile from the forest service road. Finally at the forest service road i was met with no more loose small boulders but huge boulders that you couldn't just run over, had to find lines while ricocheting from rock to rock. After a 1/4 mile i could see it wasn't getting better and I'm about 1 1/2 hrs in already. Soaked with sweat after drinking two bottles of water on the way up i decided to turn it around and head down. Stripped some layers off took a break and headed back down. Boulders are hard to get momentum in so getting started i dropped the bike on it left side then 100' later on the right side. More water and finally got a line to get going. I abandoned all plans for the day as it was already after 2:00 pm and i was beat. Tomorrow i am going back and finding a different way up that mountain. Of course, pictures never do incline justice, but it was easier to ride than walk.

That picture looks above my pay grade. Sounds fun though. 👍

Yikes, that pic looks like an advertisement for skid plates.
